About the artist

Kayla Cordy is a 24-year-old artist who currently holds a BFA in Printmaking. Under the guidance of her professors Matt Egan and Heather Muise, she discovered her love of creating reductive linoleum cut prints. With themes relating to nature and decay, her Prints are full of vibrant and striking colors that are built up layer by layer. These layers create detailed imagery that implies a certain narrative to the viewer, inviting them to look and think further into the piece.  During her career as an undergraduate student, Kayla has had work displayed in many exhibitions across North Carolina and surrounding states. She has had work displayed in Nags Head NC, Emerge Art Gallery in Greenville NC, Gray Gallery at East Carolina University, Bellwethers exhibition at the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the SGCI juried exhibition in Lubbock Texas. She has won Awards for her prints including an honorable mention in the SCHWA national juried exhibition as well as a Merit award in East Carolina University’s juried undergraduate exhibition. Kayla is now furthering her education in the form of a master’s degree at Texas Tech University so that she may continue to explore and experiment with the art of printmaking. She has hopes of one day becoming a university professor so she can share her love of the craft through education.
